Our Story

The Beginning

I had just returned back from a trip in New York City and received a phone call from my friend in the UK. We had caught up on my trip and then she said, “I have someone I’d like to introduce you to, if you are open to it ?” I simply responded with, “Sure, open to meeting people and making new  friends”. Once I got off the phone and was about to head down for lunch, I got a message on my phone. It all started with a simple, “Hello I am Obi and got your number from my friend Nnamdi. He and his wife spoke highly of you and how awesome you are. I figured, I’d say hello and introduce myself”. I was happy to see his message and responded. Since November 2022, we’ve been friends and our relationship has grown into something beautiful.

Our love is built on the foundation of friendship. They say marry your friend and that is exactly what we have for each other; friendship, kindness and respect. Obi had travelled to Nigeria for his niece's wedding. Despite being in Nigeria, he was persistent in his communication. He actually remembered to say, “Happy Thanksgiving” ! I  noticed he always kept his word, no matter how small. The little things like a call back, remembering my work schedule and supporting me in my business caught my attention. It’s been a long distance relationship but the distance has not kept us apart. I am glad we found each other and are holding on together to start our journey together as husband and wife.

Our Story
The Proposal
Obi had suggested we travel to Paris for the Olympics, but honestly, I wasn’t sure. I had already planned a girls trip for Jamaica and Paris was impromptu the month of August 2024. After much persuading from him, I agreed and packed my bags for Paris. We spent 2 nights watching games we loved and on the last day in Paris we were scheduled for a photoshoot. Having scheduled the photoshoot myself, I was in constant communication with the photographer and was looking forward to taking pictures in the city. The day of the photoshoot started out as a nightmare. The roads were blocked, we were walking for hours looking for the photographer in the designated venue but kept getting lost. At this point, I lost all interest ready to call an uber and cancel the photoshoot. For some reason, Obi was so optimistic and kept saying, “Smile baby, everything will be okay”. I gave the whole situation one last chance, and there was the photographer coming our way. Still trying to cheer up and smile for the camera, I noticed Obi running up towards the photographer, discussing a bit. I assumed he was trying to figure out how long the shoot would take and the best places for lunch in the city. Little did I know, he was telling the photographer he'd like to propose to his girlfriend. After a couple of pictures were taken, the photographer made me face the Eiffel Tower for some shots. When I turned around, there was my darling Obi on bended knees asking me, “Nnennaya will you marry me ?” I was so surprised and excited !! It was a sure, “Yes” and I can't wait to spend forever with him. In that moment, everything was more than okay like he said and Paris will forever be a memorable place in my heart.
